Galapagos_2011
These photos were taken on a June-July, 2011 trip to the Galapagos with two of our grandchildren. The photos were taken with a Nikon D300 using, largely, a Nikon 70-200 mm f/2.8 lens with a 1.7 teleconverter. Some scenic shots were done with a Nikon 16-35 mm f/4 lens (and a Nikon 18-200 mm f/3.5 lens was used occasionally.) All photos were processed with Photoshop CS4. The photos are arranged in chronological order. We began on Santa Cruz Island at the Darwin Center (where giant tortoises are bred). Then sailed to Isabela Island, the largest in the group, and spent most of the five days around that island and neighboring Fernandina. The 4th day we landed on San Salvador, and the final morning we walked on North Seymour (among the large number of frigate birds). (See also the gallery of photos from the 2008 Galapagos trip. That trip was more concentrated in the more eastern islands, and we saw a somewhat different collection of birds, mammals, and reptiles. In particular, we saw albatross and Nazca boobies.)
