Grytviken

The Grytviken whaling station. ccupied in the summer only by a few government officials and people who man the museum and post office. This was the place from which Shackleton left on his ill-fated exploration ofv Antarctica and where he returned months later. On a later expedition he died there and is buried in rhe cemetery.
